The Health and Safety First Aid at Work Regulations (Northern Ireland 1982) requires employers to provide adequate and appropriate equipment, facilities and personnel to enable First Aid to be given to employees if they are injured or become ill at work. The First aid at work training course provides a comprehensive set of practical skills needed by first aiders in most workplaces to become a confident first aider at work.

Course Structure:
This course is designed for all persons who are to be employed as First Aid providers in the work place. Candidates are assessed by “on-going assessment by tutor” and written assessments. Successful delegates will receive an FAW certificate valid for 3 years. Delegates receive training in the following areas:

• Principles of Resuscitation
• Airway Obstruction
• Disorders of Circulation
• Bites and Stings

• Burns and Scalds

• Effects of Heat and Cold
• Wounds and Bleeding
• Diabetes
• Epilepsy
