FOOD HYGIENE RATINGS BY THE FOOD STANDARDS AGENCY

Recently, the Food Standards Agency carried out their Food Safety / Food Hygiene inspections. The Derry Journal have provided the list of all those inspected in the Derry area;

The business’ inspected, range from Childcare Groups to Butchers, to Restaurants, anywhere that involves the cooking, handling and preparing of food.

At Global Horizon Skills, we offer training courses in Food Safety to suit your occupational sector. These courses are accredited by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health.

Food Safety Courses

  • CIEH Level 2 Food Safety
    • This course covers the following areas:
      • Legislation
      • Food Safety hazards
      • Temperature Control
      • Refrigeration, chilling and cold holding
      • Cooking, hot holding and reheating
      • Food handling
      • Principles of safe food storage
      • Cleaning
      • Food premises and equipment
    • This course is suited for everyone who has a responsibility of managing food in the workplace.

Suggested progression from this course, would lead to;

  • CIEH Level 3 Food Safety
    • This course covers the following areas:
      • Ability to implement and supervise a food safety management system
      • Understand food safety procedures
      • Understand the concept of food hazards and the risks associated with them
      • Understand the terminology with respect to supervising food safety
      • Understand the techniques involved in controlling and monitoring food safety
      • Appreciate the risks linked to cross contamination
      • Understand the role temperature has to play in the control of food safety
      • Appreciate the importance of supervising high standards of cleanliness in food premises
    • This course is suited for those in a management or supervisory position in catering, manufacturing or retail business, or any business where food is handled and prepared. Particularly relevant for those who monitor food safety management and procedures.

Refreshment of these courses is advised for every three years.
